November, 2022 - The lab, together with the Boothby lab, got the Global Perspectives Grant Fall 2022 funding to characterize the function of IDPs from desiccation tolerant organisms. This funding will allow Diego and Cesar to visit the lab of Thomas Boothby next year (2023).

September, 2021 - Daniela starts a 3-month research stay in the Sukenik lab at the University of California, Merced. She will perform solution space scanning on a set of Arabidopsis LEA proteins. Enjoy, Daniela!
June, 2021 - Cesar was a co-chair with Heather Meyer of the mini-symposium "The role of Intrinsically Disordered Proteins in Plant Biology" at the 31st International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR) 2021.

October, 2020 - The Cuevas-Velazquez lab and the Sukenik lab from UC Merced have been awarded a UC MEXUS-CONACYT bi-national collaborative grant to study how the environmental sensitivity of dehydration-induced IDPs is linked to their function.
September, 2020 - The lab has been awarded a Frontier Science CONACYT grant! We will team up with Gustavo Pedraza, Leonor Perez and Alejandra Covarrubias from Instituto de Biotecnología (UNAM), and Rayo Sánchez from Centro de Investigación en Biotecnología (UAEM) to develop IDP-based biosensors to 1- dig into the molecular mechanisms of water perception in halophilic fungi and higher plants, and 2- investigate how environmental perturbations impact the assembly of the mammalian inflammasome.
August, 2020 - Constanza Enriquez-Toledo joins the lab as the first graduate student. She will use IDPs to develop novel environmentally-regulated biosensors.
